Post Office to close 13 branches
The Post Office has announced 15 of its branches in West Suffolk are facing possible closure or change in service.

The Post Office says the cutbacks are necessary to make the service sustainable and most people will still be within one mile of a post office.

A consultation now begins and people have until the beginning of June to put forward their views.

Last year, most of the planned closures in the east and south of the county went ahead despite protests.

The full list of proposed closures:

  • Combs Ford, Stowmarket
  • Crown Street, Stowmarket
  • Old Newton, Stowmarket
  • Fornham All Saints, Bury St Edmunds
  • Great Ashfield, Bury St Edmunds
  • Horringer, Bury St Edmunds
  • Whepstead, Bury St Edmunds
  • Risby, Bury St Edmunds
  • Barton Mills, Bury St Edmunds
  • Honington Village
  • Cowlinge, Newmarket
  • Exning Road, Newmarket
  • Chalkstone, Haverhill.

Outreach replacements have been proposed for two more post offices in Gislingham and Wattisham Airfield.
