William O'Connor was involved in a fight before his death
Extra police patrols are taking place and a mobile police station is being set up near to where a man was stabbed to death.

William O'Connor, 20, known as Bill, was found with serious injuries in Home Farm Lane, Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, on the afternoon of 27 April.

He was taken to West Suffolk Hospital where he later died.

Police want to hear from anyone who saw an old-style white Transit van in the area at the time.

Det Ch Insp David Skevington said: "Extra patrols will carried out be in the area of Home Farm Lane over the coming days, and any members of the public who would like to speak to an officer can do so at the mobile station.

"We have taken more than 40 calls and want them to keep coming."

Mr O'Connor was wearing blue jeans, a navy blue jacket with white stripes up both sleeves, and black shoes at the time of his death.

He was involved in a fight behind the shops on the Hardwick precinct which may have been seen by shoppers and passers by during the busy lunchtime period, police said.
