Preparations to find new bishop
The Right Reverend Richard Lewis
Bishop Richard Lewis is to retire in June this year
A meeting is taking place to consider the possible candidates for the next Bishop of St Edmundsbury and Ipswich.

The position is currently held by the Rt Rev Richard Lewis who announced last year that he is to retire in June after 10 years in the job.

The Crown Nominations Commission, made up of 16 local and national representatives and two Archbishops, meets for the first time on Thursday.

The body will eventually put forward two names to the Prime Minister.

He will then decide who will serve as the Bishop.

The meeting is taking place in Leeds on Thursday.
