Armed robbers failed to open safe
Armed raiders escaped with the day's takings and cash from a till after attacking staff at a Suffolk newsagent.

Three masked men burst into the shop in Great Cornard, near Sudbury, armed with a gun and pieces of wood.

They threatened the manager and two assistants and demanded the safe was opened, but were unable to gain access.

They took the cash and fled in a green Rover 216 car which was later found with the engine still running on nearby Sheepshead Hill.

All three men were wearing makeshift balaclavas and spoke with southern or local accents.
