Protest over flights refuelling
Campaigners at RAF Mildenhall
Campaigners believe the flights are carrying bombs
Peace campaigners have staged a demonstration outside an airbase in Suffolk against the refuelling of US flights to Israel.

About 30 people protested against the landing of the two planes at RAF Mildenhall at the weekend.

The flights were diverted to the US airbase to avoid protestors at Prestwick Airport in Scotland.

Campaigners believe the flights are carrying bombs. The airbase has refused to comment.

'Humanitarian crisis'

A spokesman for RAF Mildenhall said the two Atlas Air cargo flights arrived late on Saturday night.

He said they were there to refuel and allow the crew to rest.

CND activist Peter Lanyon said he believed bombs were being carried.

He said: "We utterly condemn all weapons transports to the Middle East at this time.

"They are contributing to the worsening of this tragic humanitarian crisis."

Protests have previously been held at Prestwick Airport where several US planes have previously landed.
