Television jobs come under threat
Sanyo Industries
Job losses are being considered at Sanyo's television plant.
Manufacturing and business support jobs are under threat at a television production plant in Lowestoft.

Staff at Sanyo received a letter informing them of the possible steps being considered and they attended a meeting with management on Wednesday.

They were told that because television technology was moving to flat screens fewer people would be needed in future.

Because competitors manufactured in low cost economies in Eastern Europe and Far East the firm faced a price war.

But Sanyo said they were committed to staying in Lowestoft and would restructure the company to meet the new conditions.

This meant there would be redundancies and staff are now in talks with management.
