A pre-fab house built to provide temporary housing after World War II has sold for £165,000.

The single-storey house on Sidegate Lane in Ipswich, Suffolk, was expected to last for just 10 to 15 years.

It was one of thousands built in the post-war years from pre-fabricated, recycled materials.

The pre-fabs formed part of Winston Churchill's temporary housing programme to help replace the three million homes in Britain lost in bombing raids.

Many pre-fabs have survived the multi-storey tower blocks that were built to replace them.
