A family's cat was found strangled with a child's skipping rope in the front garden of their home, the RSPCA said.
The cat's owner Lisa Catchpole said her nine-year-old son, Kyle, discovered the animal in a bush in the garden of their home in Kessingland, Suffolk on Friday.
RSPCA inspector Katie Wright said she believed the six-year-old cat had been killed deliberately as the skipping rope was tied in a knot round its neck.
Ms Wright described the cat's death as a "sick and deliberate act of cruelty".
The RSPCA are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
