A £15m funding decision which could make or break plans for a university for Suffolk is announced on Thursday.
The Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) is due to announce if it will grant the project funding.
HEFCE could contribute up to £15m to the scheme - a sum of money that would be very hard to secure from elsewhere.
Suffolk County Council has already pledged £13m towards the project to fund local learning centres and a central campus in Ipswich.
Supporters of the university scheme fear that if Thursday's decision fails to provide extra funding, the project will lose momentum.
