Work is due to start on the long-awaited £30m Lowestoft southern relief road on Monday morning.
The new road should have been started last year, but a group of residents started to challenge the scheme in the High Court.
The residents dropped their action in September and the scheme, spearheaded by Suffolk County Council, was given the go-ahead last month.
It aims to improve the approaches to Bascule Bridge, Lowestoft.
The council also hopes it will give people in south Lowestoft a better quality of life.
The project has been on the drawing board for about 20 years.
