Two churches damaged by vandals
Two churches in two villages have been badly damaged by vandals over two days, leaving parishioners upset.

The first church to be damaged late last week was St Bartholomew's in Corton, Suffolk.

Then, over Friday night, St Margaret's church in Hopton, Norfolk, was so badly damaged church officials were unsure if anything was stolen.

The Rev Roger Key said there had been previous problems with vandals causing damage but nothing on this scale.

It is thought the cost of restoring the interior will run into several hundred pounds.

Sgt Heidi Tubby, with Norfolk Police, said the damage was "especially upsetting so near to Christmas".

She said police in Gorleston would work closely with local churches to offer crime prevention advice and catch the vandals.

Anyone who sees any suspicious activity at or near churches is asked to call the police.
