County's next High Sheriff chosen
Suffolk's next High Sheriff has been officially nominated at a 1,000 year old ceremony.

The post will be held by Philip Hope-Cobbold, from Little Glemham near Woodbridge.

His nomination took place at the High Court in London before the Lord Chief Justice, Lord Woolf and he takes up the post next March.

Major Hope-Cobbold was born in Glemham Hall where he now lives, in 1943, and attended Sandhurst.

Ipswich Town director

After leaving the Royal Military Academy he served with the Royal Hussars until 1992.

The major is also a director of Ipswich Town Football Club and chairman of the Suffolk Branch of the Farming and Wildlife Advisory Group.

He is now a parish councillor for Glemham and High Sheriff elect of Suffolk for 2005/6.
