Koi carp are targeted by a specialist gang of thieves
|
A specialist gang is being blamed for a spate of thefts of high value exotic fish from garden ponds across Suffolk.
The Koi carp are being snatched at night from unprotected lakes and ponds in Ipswich, Hadleigh and Lowestoft.
Police believe the gang is well- organised and acting on orders received from specialist collectors and breeders who know where the fish are kept.
So far the value of the Koi carp stolen is more than £50,000 with some fish fetching six-figure sums.
Anyone keeping Koi carp is advised to install extra security measures such as garden lights and better fencing.
