Millions of pounds are to be spent improving security at a port in Suffolk as part of the fight against terrorism.

The Port of Felixstowe plans to spend the money to buy more CCTV cameras and extra steel fencing.

It also aims to bring in tighter controls on terminal areas. Extra customs officers will also be stationed at the port.

A spokesman for the dock said the Port of Felixstowe is "committed to maintaining high levels of security".

He said the port already employs its own statutory police force.

He added: "However, arrangements have been reviewed, in consultation with the government, and further measures are being introduced in response to the changing international situation ."
