A team of detectives from Suffolk have arrived in Guyana to help with a 21-year-old investigation into an alleged murder.
A Suffolk Police spokesman told BBC News Online that officers are offering assistance to police in Guyana in the case of Brian Spencer who died in 1982 after being shot.
Suffolk Police said a 41-year-old man from Woodbridge had been arrested on 10 November in connection with the death of Mr Spencer.
The unnamed man was released on police bail until 6 January 2004 while further inquiries are carried out.
The spokesman said Suffolk Police officers had arrived in the South American country in the last couple of days.
"A small team of detectives have travelled to Guyana to conduct inquiries into the alleged murder of Brian Spencer," he said.
The spokesman said he could not say how long the officers would remain in the country.
