Memorial garden to teenagers

Flowers were left at the scene where the boys were hit
A memorial garden is due to be opened for two teenagers from Ipswich who died after being hit by a car.

Scott Towler, 15, and his friend Dean Bloomfield, also 15, were killed when they were hit by a car being driven by Zulfcar Ali, of Boyton Road, Ipswich, on 30 May this year.

The teenagers were walking along Bishop's Hill in Ipswich with Dean's girlfriend when the incident happened.

A court heard that Ali was high on cocaine, heroin and prescribed drugs when his car clipped a lorry and mounted the pavement - crushing the two boys.

At Ipswich Crown Court in October, Ali admitted their manslaughter and is now waiting to be sentenced.

The memorial garden is being opened on Friday in a special ceremony in Ipswich.

It is due to be held at 1200 GMT on Elm Street - close to where Scott lived.
