Flowers left at the scene where the boys were hit
A motorist who drove his car onto a pavement, killing two teenage boys, had taken heroin and cocaine, a court has heard.

Friends Scott Towler and Dean Bloomfield - who were both 15 and from Ipswich - died after Zulfcar Ali drove into them.

Ali, of Boyton Road, Ipswich, Suffolk, admitted two counts of manslaughter when he appeared at Ipswich Crown Court on Thursday.

He also pleaded guilty to two counts of dangerous driving in connection with the incident which happened in Bishops Hill on 30 May.

Boys 'ran out'

Scott died in Ipswich Hospital shortly after the incident. Dean died there the next day.

Both boys were pupils at Stoke High School.

The court heard that in statements before the trial, Ali claimed the boys ran out in front of his car.

He said he failed to stop because other vehicles were behind him.

But the court was told that drug tests showed he had taken cocaine and heroin.

His defence asked for reports to be prepared before sentencing on 24 November.
