People left tributes to the dead family at the roadside
Hundreds of people attended a memorial service in memory of an American mother and her three young children who were killed in a car crash.

Cortina Hamilton, from Ely, Cambridgeshire, and her children died on Friday, 26 September in an accident in Suffolk.

Mrs Hamilton, her sons Jalin Brent, aged five, 23-month-old Malik and her three-year-old daughter Alyssa all died at the scene of the crash at Kenny Hill, near Mildenhall.

Mrs Hamilton's husband, Curtis, a senior US airman with the 100th aircraft maintenance squadron at RAF Mildenhall, was joined by friends from the base for a special service on Thursday.

Base pulling together

Captain Shane Balken, a spokesman for RAF Mildenhall, said the service had been arranged for Mr Hamilton but was also a chance for the rest of the base to grieve.

He said they had also started a fund for Mr Hamilton and added: "We really make an effort to take care of our own people and the base has pulled together to help him out in any way possible."

Mrs Hamilton and her children were travelling in a Honda Accord which left the road and landed on its roof in a ditch.

Attempts by ambulance crews to resuscitate the family were unsuccessful.
