A racehorse breeder worth £1,600m has topped the Sunday Times rich list for the Eastern region.
Two of the east's richest have interests at Newmarket
Kirsten Rausing, 47, who has a stud at Newmarket, inherited much of her wealth from her father who made his fortune in food packaging.
It is the second year in succession Ms Rausing has topped the list in the eastern region.
Her estimated fortune has almost doubled from £550m last year.
Ms Rausing stands at ninth place in the national rankings, up from 18th place last year.
Fellow Newmarket racehorse owner and property owner Bill Gredley with £133m ranks sixth in the region (ninth last year).
Suffolk's Edmund Vestey returns to the rich list, ranking second with £700m.
Mr Vestey's estate is at Great Thurlow, near Haverhill. The family fortune was founded on the 19th century meat trade.
Food has also made Norfolk's turkley tycoon Bernard Matthews a rich man.
Mr Matthews is at number five with £139m, up one place in the eastern rankings from last year.
Internet software magnate Dr Mike Lynch's £132m put him in seventh place.
Dr Lynch, who stood in fourth place in last year's list, founded his internet software business Autonomy in Cambridge.
The full list, published on Sunday, names the nation's 1,000 most wealthy individuals and families.
