Church appoints tourism officer
A church is appointing its first tourism officer to promote the attractions in the east of England.

The Reverend Margaret Blackall has been appointed to the Diocese of St Edmundsbury and Ipswich.

Reverend Blackall, a retired rector of Great Glemham and Snape in east Suffolk, starts working as church tourism officer in April.

She said her role would be to promote the buildings the church owns in Suffolk.

"Visiting our beautiful churches is an important part of many people's holidays or breaks in Suffolk," she said.

"I want to work with the cathedral (in Bury St Edmunds), local authorities and tourist boards to make sure that even more holiday makers come and enjoy these extraordinary buildings."
