Man charged over doorman's death

A man has been charged with the manslaughter of a doorman who was run over by a car outside Stoke-on-Trent club and died six years later.

David Churchman, from Biddulph, suffered head injuries in the incident by the Place nightclub in Bryan Street, Hanley, on 7 September 2002.

He only made a partial recovery and died at the University Hospital of North Staffordshire on 25 July 2008.

Police said a 29-year-old man had been charged with his manslaughter.

The man has been bailed to appear before North Staffordshire Magistrates' Court, in Fenton, on 10 February.
