The ale was brewed to mark the discovery of the Anglo-Saxon gold

A new ale has been brewed to celebrate the discovery of Anglo-Saxon treasure in a field in Staffordshire. The Hoard Ale, from Backyard Brewhouse, celebrates the largest haul of Anglo-Saxon gold found in the UK, unearthed by a man with a metal detector in July. The ale is on sale locally and was partly funded by the county council. The council said it was "great to see a brewery so close to the site" profiting from the "fantastic opportunity" the Staffordshire Hoard offered the county. The ale is being stocked locally and is on sale at the Uxbridge Arms in Chasetown and County Staff Club in Stafford. The Backyard Brewhouse's head brewer Austen Morgan said: "'It's good to be involved with such an important discovery that has put this area on the map."
