Eight fire stations to be rebuilt

Staffordshire's fire and rescue service has been given £50m of government funding to rebuild eight stations.

Stations in Leek, Stone, Burton, Chase Terrace, Codsall, Kinver, Lichfield and Rugeley will be built using cash from Private Finance Initiatives.

Building is expected to start in early 2012.

The new announcement is on top of the £46m of funding that the fire service was given last month to build 10 new stations.
