A fire in a garage which led to a man being rescued is believed to have been started deliberately, the fire service has said. The garage in Freemantle Road, Trent Vale, Newcastle-under-Lyme, was "well alight" on Monday evening, said Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service. The man rescued from the garage suffered from the effects of smoke inhalation and was given oxygen. The fire was confined to the garage but severely damaged the building.
