Bravery medal for campus warden

A site warden who helped to capture a man who had attacked a female student at a university campus has been rewarded for her bravery.

Nyssa Koring went to help a student who was being attacked in the grounds of a hall of residence in Stoke-on-Trent.

The man ran off but as a result of Ms Koring's help he was quickly captured. It was later discovered he had also attacked a woman in nearby flats.

She was presented with a silver medal at the Police Public Bravery Awards.

The man was eventually given a 27-month prison sentence.

A Staffordshire Police spokesman said if it was not for Ms Koring's intervention the student would have been subjected to a more serious attack.

"Her actions contributed to a very dangerous predator being removed from the streets," he said.
