Girl injured as bus hits bridge

A teenage girl had to be taken to hospital after the double-decker bus she was travelling on hit a bridge in Staffordshire.

About 40 people had been on the bus when it hit the bridge in Vernon Road, Hanley, just before 1800 BST on Sunday.

West Midlands Ambulance Service said about 35 of those people had been children aged between three and 15.

The girl who was taken to hospital had to receive treatment after getting glass in her eye.
