JCB secures 14m military order

Backhoe loaders
The deal is worth 14m

The Staffordshire digger maker JCB says it has secured its biggest contract from the French armed forces - worth some £14m.

The order is for a fleet of its backhoe loaders, specially armoured and camouflaged machines made at the firm's world headquarters in Rocester.

The backhoe has been taken from JCB's commercial range and adapted to army technical specifications.

The first of the machines have started to be delivered.
