A Stoke City player has been charged with motoring offences.

Stoke City Football Club said striker Ricardo Fuller, 29, was stopped by Staffordshire Police close to its training ground on Wednesday morning.

Police confirmed that a 29-year-old man stopped in Riverside Road, Trent Vale, has been charged with driving licence and vehicle insurance offences.

He is due before magistrates at Fenton on 6 March. The club said it had "no further comment to make".

Mr Fuller has not been playing for the club since he dislocated his shoulder in a match against Sunderland on 7 February.
