Two more wards have closed at Stafford Hospital because of an outbreak of the winter vomiting bug
A total of five wards at the hospital are now closed, including parts of the cardiac unit.
Mid Staffordshire NHS Foundation Trust has asked visitors to stay away from the hospital, if possible, until all wards had been given "the all clear".
Norovirus is highly contagious and causes vomiting and diarrhoea which last for two to three days.
Director of nursing and governance Helen Moss said: "Although we aren't banning visitors, as in previous outbreaks, we are discouraging members of the public from attending all Stafford Hospital wards wherever possible, to limit the risk of spreading the infection."
She said members of the public responded well to a similar appeal made by the trust in January.
