Dairy axed with loss of 250 jobs

A dairy firm has announced it is to close its Staffordshire site with the loss of more than 250 jobs.

Dairy Farmers of Britain, based in Nantwich, Cheshire, said it was closing its dairy in Fole, near Uttoxeter.

It said 15 head office staff could also lose their jobs as part of the cuts, which it blamed on falling cream prices and high energy bills.

John Gall from Usdaw said the union was in talks with the company about the redundancies.
