Pedestrian killed in road crash

A pedestrian died when he was hit by a car in the early hours in Staffordshire.

Emergency crews were called to Market Street, Hednesford, shortly after midnight on Saturday, a spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said.

Despite their best efforts nothing could be done to save the man who was confirmed dead at the scene, the service spokesman added.

Two rapid response vehicles and an ambulance crew attended the incident.
