M6 reopens after bridge incident

Delays on the M6 near Stoke
The incident has caused long queues to develop

The M6 has reopened after negotiators persuaded a woman in a "distressed state" to come down from the outside of a bridge over the motorway.

The motorway had been closed in both directions just south of junction 15 at Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, earlier.

The woman came down from the bridge at about 1725 BST and she was examined by paramedics and taken to hospital for treatment.

The A519, which was also closed, has since reopened.
