Garden damaged by vehicle again

A man from Staffordshire who said his garden has been smashed into for a fourth time has called for drivers to slow down.

Owen Lawrence, from Tamworth, had a front wall reduced to rubble in the latest incident on Sunday.

Mr Lawrence and his wife Margaret have appealed for extra safety measures to reduce speeds on Watling Street in Wilnecote.

Staffordshire County Council said it was working on a local safety plan.

Mr Lawrence said: "They do come round here at speed. It's a 30 mile-an-hour limit all the way through Wilnecote.

"They tear along here like as if they haven't got a minute to live some of the cars.

"We want some railings, lights around the island, to protect our property or some bollards, anything to stop them going through my walls."

Mr Lawrence, who has lived at the house for nearly 30 years, said the first incident happened about 15 years ago.

The council said it was working on a plan which would address all of the issues, especially the roundabout which was on a busy road, and it was hopeful work would start early next year.
