Mystery over man's lay-by injury

A man was found seriously injured in a lay-by on a busy road in Staffordshire.

Police said mystery surrounded what had happened to the man, who was found on the A50 between Uttoxeter and Draycott Island at 2100 BST on Monday.

The road was shut for four hours. Officers said they recovered a red Rover 416 later, which they believe may have been involved in the incident.

The man was taken to the University Hospital of North Staffordshire where he is in a critical condition.

A Staffordshire Police spokesman urged anyone with information to contact them.
