Boy hit by 4x4 is seriously hurt

A four-year-old boy suffered a serious head injury when he was hit by a 4x4 vehicle in Staffordshire.

West Midlands Ambulance Service said crews were called to Meadowbrook Road, Lichfield, about 1815 BST on Sunday.

Paramedics began treating the boy at the scene before contacting the County Air Ambulance Service.

He was immobilised using a spinal board and neck collar and flown to Birmingham Children's Hospital, the ambulance service spokesman added.
