A 13-year-old boy remains in intensive care after being found with severe burns in Stoke-on-Trent.

Jordan Lawrence was found with burns to his head and chest near a path off Leek Road, in Abbey Hulton, on Friday night.

The teenager was taken to Birmingham Children's Hospital where he is being treated.

Det Sgt Gary Evans, of Staffordshire Police, said it was not yet known how Jordan was injured. He appealed for witnesses to come forward.

He said the area where he was found - a former school site which is now a wooded pathway - was popular with people in the local area.

He added: "We're urging the local community to come together and speak to the police.

"There are witnesses out there for this as yet unexplained event."
