Inquiry after boy suffers burns

A police inquiry has begun into how a 13-year-old boy suffered severe burns in Stoke-on-Trent.

Officers were called to the site of a demolished school in Leek Road, Carmountside, Abbey Hulton, on Friday evening.

The boy had suffered severe burns to his head, chest and legs.

He was taken to University Hospital of North Staffordshire and then to a specialist unit in Birmingham where his condition was described as "poorly".

Anyone with information has been asked to contact Staffordshire Police.
