Man is charged with manslaughter

A Stoke-on-Trent man has been charged with the manslaughter of a man who died nearly five years after being assaulted in the city.

Terence Garner, from the Chell Heath area, was assaulted in Barncroft Road in December 2002.

He died in a nursing home in Bradwell, Newcastle-under-Lyme, in October 2007.

Michael Clifford, 27, from Chell Heath, is charged with manslaughter and was remanded by magistrates to appear at Stafford Crown Court on Friday 4 July.
