An exhibition is being held to display the works of a Staffordshire cartoonist who wrote many of his cartoon strips in the Stoke-on-Trent dialect.

Dave Follows, who died in 2003, drew the characters in May un Mar Lady, who spoke in a Potteries dialect, in the local Sentinel newspaper for 20 years.

Mr Follows, from Stafford, was also behind the Creature Feature comic strip in the Sunday Times for 15 years.

His sons have now put a collection of his works together for an exhibition.

The show is on at Stoke-on-Trent's Potteries Museum and Art Gallery until 29 June.

His eldest son Darren Follows said: "If you look around the exhibition, there's so much stuff.

"But that's only about a fifth of what we've got in total."
