Death scene visit proves 'useful'

Two men have been bailed over Miss Bennett's death

Detectives searching for a teenager's killer said a visit to the area where she died has been "very useful".

Staffordshire Police handed out leaflets and talked to people in Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent, a week after the death of Samantha Bennett, 19.

Miss Bennett's body was found behind a house. She died from head injuries.

Police said they were aware the 19-year-old had been working as a sex worker in the city but have so far not linked this to her death.

Supt Bernie O'Reilly said a team of detectives had "carried out house-to-house inquiries and spoken to a number of witnesses".

He added: "We have done detailed forensic examinations from a number of scenes and obviously we are looking to make some submissions to the forensic science laboratory in the next couple of days."

The body of the 19-year-old, from Tunstall, was found in Blake Street, Burslem, on Wednesday.

Angela Bennett, Samantha's mother, has appealed for anyone with information about her death to come forward.

Mrs Bennett paid tribute to her "beautiful daughter" on Tuesday and released a poem Samantha had written for her.

Two men, aged 21 and 35, are on police bail over the teenager's death.
