Bus station demolished for shops
Stoke-on-Trent
The proposals are part of an overall £1bn revamp for the city
Stoke-on-Trent's main bus station will be knocked down to make way for a new shopping centre, council leaders said.

Under the plans, Hanley bus station will be rebuilt on the open-air John Street car park and a new shopping centre built where it is at present.

The move is expected to cost a total of £256m and work is expected to start in two years' time.

The proposals are part of an overall £1bn revamp for the city, paid for by the city council and private investors.
