Counterfeit DVDs seized in raids

More than 15,000 counterfeit DVDs have been seized during morning raids in Birmingham.

Disc 'burners' and DVD cases were also seized during the raids at two Selly Oak addresses by Birmingham Trading Standards and West Midlands Police.

Police and trading standards officers acted on intelligence from the Federation Against Copyright Theft.

Three men have been held on suspicion of production and distribution of counterfeit goods.

Councillor Neil Eustace, chair of the public protection committee, said: "It is important these goods were seized before they hit the streets, especially at this time of year when people are Christmas shopping.

"The sale of counterfeit goods can really damage the local economy and adversely affect genuine traders who are trying to make a living."
