Theme park blaze caused by lamp
Nemesis at Alton Towers
Nemesis opened later than usual on Monday
A blaze at a popular tourist attraction which took firefighters most of the night to put out was started by a halogen lamp.

Up to 50 firefighters tackled the fire, which started in a cable car station at Alton Towers, Staffs, on Sunday.

The Skyride cable car was closed at the time and no-one was injured.

Part of the theme park closed to allow firefighters better access but most of the attraction was open to visitors again on Monday.

The fire destroyed part of the cable car station's roof and the ride is expected to remain closed for the rest of the season which ends on 11 November.

Customers were attending the park's Halloween festival when the fire broke out at about 1930 GMT. Firefighters brought it under control by 0430 GMT but were still dampening down on Monday morning.
