Man killed in crash on busy road

A man has been killed in a road crash on a major route in Staffordshire.

The man, who has not been named, died at the scene of the accident involving a car and lorry on the A53 Whitmore Road in Newcastle-under-Lyme.

The two vehicles collided on the motorway bridge at around midday on Monday. The road was still shut on Monday evening.

Police have urged anyone who witnessed the accident or may have information to contact them.
