A man has been shot outside a school after an incident involving police.
It happened on Friday afternoon at about 1515 BST close to Hagley Park High School, in Burnthill Lane, Rugeley, Staffordshire.
The man who was shot is seriously ill in Staffordshire and District General Hospital, but his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
It is understood he was in a car and was told three times by police to lower a weapon.
The front of the school, which has an access road to a leisure centre at its rear, was cordoned off.
The Independent Police Complaints Commission is investigating although Staffordshire Police refused to confirm that their officers were responsible for the shooting.
