Midlands mum is voted best in UK
Carol Garrington
Carol Garrington was nominated by her sister for the award
A mother-of-two from Staffordshire has been awarded as the most exceptional working mum in the UK.

Carol Garrington from Cheslyn Hay beat off seven other finalists for the title in a competition run by Motheratwork, an organisation for working mums.

She has overcome a disability to run a public relations firm as well as being a mother to two young boys.

Ms Garrington's award was announced at a ceremony at City Hall in London on Thursday.

"I'm absolutely over the moon, I really didn't think I would win," said Mrs Garrington, who is mum to Morgan, aged 7, and Dylan, five.

Leg amputated

The 34-year-old was nominated by her sister Katie Love, who works with Mrs Garrington at a media agency based in Staffordshire.

Katie's nomination was sparked by the fact that Carol was born with a number of medical conditions that made doctors warn her she would never walk and never have children.

Carol made the decision to have her left leg amputated below the knee when she was 12 and faced years of on-going treatment.

Denise Tyler, founder of Motheratwork said: "It's Carol's determination and character that has set her apart."
