New £8m ride's high-tech hold up
A technical hitch delayed the launch of a prestigious new ride at the West Midlands' biggest theme park.

The £8m Charlie and the Chocolate Factory attraction at Alton Towers is the park's longest ever ride.

Executives hope the move towards more family-orientated experiences will secure the park's long-term future.

The ride, vetted by Roald Dahl's estate, eventually enjoyed a successful launch after the problems re-creating the writer's fictional world.
