New 8m ride's high-tech hold up
A technical hitch delayed the launch of a prestigious new ride at the West Midlands' biggest theme park.

The 8m Charlie and the Chocolate Factory attraction at Alton Towers is the park's longest ever ride.

Executives hope the move towards more family-orientated experiences will secure the park's long-term future.

The ride, vetted by Roald Dahl's estate, eventually enjoyed a successful launch after the problems re-creating the writer's fictional world.
