Man killed by 999 call police car
A man has been knocked down and killed by a police car answering a 999 call.

The 25-year-old pedestrian was walking in the Hanley area of Stoke on Trent when the accident happened.

Staffordshire Police said the man was dead on arrival at the University Hospital of North Staffordshire. The two officers in the car were not hurt.

The matter has been referred to the Independent Police Complaints Commission and an investigation will be launched, a police spokesman said.

The victim's identity will not be released until his relatives are informed of his death, the spokesman added.
