Teenager denies attempted murder

A teenager has pleaded not guilty to the attempted murder of an elderly woman who was attacked in her Staffordshire home.

Ada Hopkinson, 95, who remains in a serious condition, was assaulted at her house in Shirburn Road, Leek, in March.

A 17-year-old, who is from the town and cannot be named for legal reasons, denies attempted murder, causing grievous bodily harm and burglary.

He was remanded in custody at Stafford Crown Court on Tuesday.

The teenager will appear there again at a date yet to be set.
