Engineering works disrupt trains
Rail travellers are warned they face disruption to their journeys over the bank holiday period because of engineering work being carried out.

The work to upgrade the track will mainly affect Virgin Train services across Staffordshire and Cheshire.

Trains between Crewe and Glasgow have been diverted to Preston where a bus service will complete the journey.

On Saturday buses will replace trains between Wolverhampton, Stafford and Crewe, and from Crewe to Preston.

The London to Manchester service will also call at Nuneaton and Stoke-on-Trent.

Virgin Trains said customers should reserve seats over the bank holiday because it is a busy period.
